Jeff Jewell
My name is Jeffery Jewell, and I am a lifelong resident of Independence. I graduated from Fort Osage High School in 1987 and have dedicated more than 30 years to public service. I retired as a full-time police officer in 2024 and have served as Fire & EMS Chief for the Inter City Fire Protection District for the past 23 years.
For the final 16 years of my law enforcement career, I served in the Blue Springs School District as a Sergeant supervising all district police officers. In that role, I worked closely with students, teachers, and staff and provided extensive training on school safety and prevention programs.
My background has given me significant experience in public safety, and I hope to use that knowledge to help guide the Independence School District in ensuring our schools remain safe and secure places for students to learn and grow.
I am also the proud parent of four children who graduated from the Independence School District and the grandparent of two students currently attending. Their safety and the safety of every student in the district is deeply personal to me and remains one of my top priorities.
